More
on Stewardship: What is Stewardship?
Stewardship means...
1. Receiving all God’s gifts
gratefully
2. Cultivating them responsibly
3. Sharing them lovingly in justice with others
4. Returning them with increase to the Lord
Meet
Stew! (short for Stewardship)
In
January, LeAnn Thiemann shared the message of stewardship
during an assembly of the elementary Faith Formation students.
Each class received a “Stew” and class members
now rotate taking Stew on weekly adventures in stewardship.
They record their good deeds in Stew's journal, then share
their entry with the class. The children of Blessed John
XXIII University Parish have responded enthusiastically
and continue to encourage each other in sharing acts of
stewardship. They write their time and talent on their envelopes
and their envelope offerings have increased by 300%. The
Stewardship Committee learned of this clever idea from Laurie
Nieb at the Northern Colorado Stewardship Conference hosted
at Blessed John XXIII University Parish last October.

With
Christ as our guide it is our,
Goal: That every man, woman, student and
child be aware of the charge to willingly and gratefully
give of their blessings and gifts i.e. their time, talent,
treasure within the community.
Objectives
Time: each member of the church devotes
some time on a regular basis to volunteer in the church
or larger community as an individual or through an organized
group.
Talent:
each member of the church identifies and cultivates their
strength and as an instrument of Christ, utilizes these
strengths in support of the church or the community.
Treasure:
each member of the church seeks to better manage their financial
assets and devote a portion on a regular basis to the church
and other charitable works.
Plan
To fulfill God’s charge of being stewards we endeavor:
†
To continue to inform the Blessed John XXIII University
Parish community that God charges us with being stewards
of all that is around us.
†To
present a Stewardship class for students K-6 and their
parents and eventually hold presentations for other
youth, university students and parishioners at all
levels.
†To
welcome new parishioners within a 30 day period.
†To
host a newcomer pot luck at least twice a year.
†To
develop a comprehensive form, listing all ministries,
then plan an event/mass for all parishioners to sigh
up as volunteers.
†To
contact individuals offering time and talent within
a 30 day period.
†To
celebrate stewardship in our midst through the use
of pictures, the website and at least 5 testimonies
annually during Mass.
†To
plan and execute a stewardship conference in the fall
of 2006.
†To
host a stewardship festival annually.
†To
study the Bishops’ Pastoral, Stewardship: A
Disciple’s Response.
