Ecology and Christianity

Theologian in Residence Program presents: “Greening the Bible: Is there a Good Word for the Earth in the Scriptures?” A lecture presented by Dr. Timothy Hessel-Robinson, Brite Divinity School, Texas Christian University. Monday, May 5, 2008, at 7:00 p.m., in the Gathering Space.

Retired, but not Tired

Our last Senior Mass and Luncheon (until September) will be held on May 6th. Mass at 11:00 a.m.
and potluck lunch after Mass. Our speaker will be an officer on safety.

First Communion Families Lesson and Meal

May 8th 6 PM

All families preparing children for First Communion this Spring are invited to participate in a lesson and meal with Fr. Don, Thursday, May 8th, 6:00-7:30 p.m. Fr. Don will do a lesson with the children and parents: A potluck dinner will follows. Each family is asked to bring a main dish and one other dish (salad, vegetable or dessert). Please sign up by calling Jim Reid’s voice mail (530-7920) and leaving your family name, phone number and number of family members attending.

The West African Development Support Organization (WADSO) and Blessed John XXIII Catholic University Center are sponsoring an art show fundraising event on Friday, May 9th from 3:00-9:00 p.m. at John XXIII , for the ongoing support of Madonna Hospital in Umuahia, Nigeria. The art show featuring the work of some 19 artists, all of which is for sale, includes oils, watercolors, bronze, wood and stone sculptures, jewelry, stained glass and photography. There also a children’s art competition and silent and live auctions. There will be an artists reception at 7:00 p.m. For information,

Finals Food for Students

First Communion

Group First Communion will be celebrated at the 5:15 p.m. Mass on Saturday, May 24 (practice, 4:00
p.m., May 19) the 8:30 a.m. Mass, Sunday, May 25 (practice, 4:00 p.m. May 21) and the 11:15 a.m. Mass, Sunday, May 25 (practice 4:00 p.m., May 22). Families may signup for the Mass of their choice by calling Jim Reid’s voice mail 530-7920. Please leave the time of Mass, child’s full name, address, zip code, and phone number. PARENTS ARE REMINDED TO SCHEDULE THEIR CHILD’S FIRST COMMUNION INTERVIEW WITH JIM REID AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

Centering Prayer

Mondays 7:00 - 8:30 PM

Centering Prayer will be held at the Student Commons each Monday This is a prayer and meditation practice that is being used by many twelve-step people as part of working the Eleventh Step. For more information, please call Christine at 206-1154.

Women's Voices, Women's Wisdom

The first book we will be reading is Joan Chittister’s “The
Friendship of Women”.

Mom's Group

Wednesdays 9-11 AM

We are a group of diverse women whose common bond is our children...of all ages! We welcome any mom or grandmother to join us for conversation, snacks and a respite time with other adults. Babies are welcome to stay with Mom. Some activities include prayer, reading, crafts, service projects,
